Born in Sassari, Leonardo Sini won the International Sir Georg Solti Competition in 2017. He made his conducting debut in the 2019 Season at the Hungarian State Opera conducting Le Villi and Messa di Gloria by Puccini. His first season continued with the debuts in Opera Lombardia conducting La Sonnambula in Como, Cremona, Pavia as well as at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo.
During recent seasons he debuted at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova (La bohème); at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari (Un Ballo in Maschera); at the Hungarian State Opera (Ballo in Maschera, Don Carlo, Edgar, Le Villi, Simon Boccanegra with Plácido Domingo); at Opera Australia (Turandot, Adriana Lecouvreur); at the Bunka Kaikan Tokyo (Falstaff, Don Carlo); at Opernhaus Zurich (Rigoletto, Scala di Seta, Tosca, Lucia di Lammermoor); at Deutsche Oper Berlin (Aida); at Hamburg Staatsoper (Lucia di Lammermoor, Il trittico, Il trovatore); at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (La traviata); at Opera Royal de Wallonie (Alzira, Carmen, Le nozze di Figaro, Cappello di Paglia); at the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman (Così fan tutte, La bohème); at the Arena di Verona Festival 2024 (Carmen); at the Teatro Regio in Torino (Le nozze di Figaro); at Semperoper Dresden (Aida, La traviata); at Staatsoper Berlin (L’elisir d’amore, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Carlo); with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (Cavalleria rusticana); at the Salle Gaveu in Paris (Nabucco with Plácido Domingo), at the Opera Bastille in Paris (L’elisir d’amore). During the last season he also debuted at the Seattle Opera (Tosca); at Teatro Nacional de Santiago (La traviata); at Teatro Comunale in Bologna (La traviata); at Teatro Verdi in Trieste (Romeo et Juliette); at the Puccini Festival (Madama Butterfly, La bohème); at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari (Lucrezia Borgia); at Oper Köln (Le nozze di Figaro).
His future engagements include, among others: Tosca at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, L’elisir d’amore and Il barbiere di Siviglia for his debut at the Wiener Staatsoper, Don Carlo in Cagliari for the Opening Season, Rigoletto in Budapest, Così fan tutte for his debut at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Aida in Santiago.
